FoodXclude is an easy-to-use barcode scanner that quickly tells you if a pre-packaged food has allergic ingredients.

By entering your food allergen profile, you can tailor your check for wheat/gluten, milk, egg, treenuts, or soy. These categories of food allergen each have long lists of derivatives that you might not recognize when reading the average ingredient list.

For example, did you know that malt vinegar has gluten? Or that iron caseinate comes from milk?

We track these derivatives and compare them for matches against the ingredient list available online, through the Nutritionix API.

How does it work?

Point and shoot - scan the bar code of your food and voila! If it contains derivatives you are allergic to, the app will light up with a red frame, to warn you. If there are none of your allergens and you are safe from harm, the scanner will light up with a green frame.

At this time, we are only able to provide ingredient list data available through the Nutritionix API. Unless otherwise labeled, contact the food manufacturer to be sure that your food was not made in a facility that also processes your allergen.
